Heaven has another Angel, a precious Christmas Angel. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom at the Grace Hospital on December 21, 2020, due to complications from COVID. We weren’t ready to say goodbye, but God had a plan, and Mom made her journey to be with Him that night, guided by the Star of Bethlehem.
Mom was born in Rosa and lived on the family farm until she left to work in Winnipeg at Canada Packers. After her marriage to our Dad, Paul, she raised her family on the farm on Red River Drive in Howden, earning her pocket money by market gardening. She was a generous, energetic and hard working woman, and an amazing cook. She loved hosting family and friends, and no one left her home hungry or empty handed. Mom was happiest in her kitchen, humming loudly as she prepared her most delicious food - cabbage rolls and perogies, paska, perishke, pidpenky, and our family favorites, mustard pickles and ketchup spaghetti with meatballs. She loved to prepare traditional Ukrainian food for our Christmas celebration and for her Basket for blessing at Easter.
In the 1970’s, Mom went to work at Food Services at the University of Manitoba, until her retirement in 1992. She made many friends there, doing a job she loved.
In 2017, Mom moved into her dream home with her son, Frank, and her adoring dog, Oliver, to live next door to her daughter, Donna. She lived happily and independently there until her passing. Even this past summer, she was busy filling her pantry with pickles and her freezer with baking. Mom enjoyed travelling, the TLC Channel, playing Scrabble, Bingo and Word Search, going to the Eagles Club and the Casino, and picking wild mushrooms and saskatoons.
Family was very important to Mom, and she loved, guided, taught and supported her children and grandchildren. She gave the biggest and best hugs and told us often that she loved us.
Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her children, Frank, David (Marguerite), Wesley (Marianne) and Donna. She was a loving Nanny to her precious grandchildren, Jenna (Nick), Rina (Brian), Kristopher, Jonathon (Robyn) and Malyssa. She will also be missed by her lifelong best friend, Minnie, and Rose and Wade, John and Veronique and their families; also her siblings, Walter, Peter (Valerie), Elsie (Don), sister-in-law-in-law, Stella, and the extended Woytowich family.
Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Paul, her parents, John and Effie Kohut, her siblings, Josie, Bill, Mike, Jennie (Peter) and recently Maurice, her sister-in-law, Jean, and her great grandson, Alexander.
The Funeral Mass for Anne will be held at Mary Mother of the Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. The Online Funeral Mass via live streaming will start at 11:00 a.m. and can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
