David Michael Townsend

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David, on May 16, 2012, after his courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 15, 1956, in Winnipeg. Left to cherish his memory: caring wife Darlah, son Peter, daughter Karalee, both who he was so very proud of and best pal Shiloh. Brothers Greg (Barb), Bruce (Mary), Ken (Joan), Sister Lesley Hazlehurst (Rod). Nieces and Nephews: Jeff, Allison, Kelly, Kyla, Dylan, Sarah, Jessie, and Danny as well, many relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his courageous father Gordon, and sweet loving mother Lorraine.

Just like his father he will always be remembered for his quick wit, fountain of knowledge, trying to make the world a better place and his sense of humor, he always had a joke ready for you. He was a proud hockey and football dad, and always bragged about his extremely intelligent daughter. He always put others before himself and was ready to lend a helping hand. He was proud to grow up in the north end of Winnipeg, and thought there was no place like it. He worked at 1010 Sinclair, Winnipeg Transit (27 years) and Building Products. Everywhere he worked and went he made everlasting friendships.

A private family interment will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home. And a celebration of life will be held at the West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St. Wpg, on Tuesday May 22 at 7:00pm.
