Donald Roger Crowe

We are deeply saddened to announce that Donald (Don) Crowe passed away on January 23rd, 2025 at the Grace Hospital with his family by his side.

Don is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 51 years, Marilyn, his cherished daughters, Jennifer (Jason) and Ashley (Sean) and his feisty grand dog, Murphy. He is equally missed by his brother Bob (Theresa) Crowe, sisters-in-law Linda Kasian, Donna (Jim) Dowd, Cindy (Gord) Remple, Jo-Anne (Jeff) Wood and Leslie (Craig) Sigurdson, nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was predeceased by his mother Gwen Haycock, aunt Doris Wiggins, uncle Cecil Rogers, in-laws Fred and Rose Faykes and brother-in-law John Kasian.

Born in Brandon, Don grew up in Glenboro where he could frequently be found at the golf course or the curling rink. He graduated from Glenboro Collegiate in 1969 and moved to Brandon where he completed the Commercial Art program at the Assiniboine Community College in 1970. He moved to Winnipeg in 1972 in pursuit of a blonde that he had his eye on. That pursuit was successful, and Don and Marilyn married on September 29th, 1973. They welcomed daughters Jennifer Dawn in 1977 and Ashley Rose in 1982, raising their family in North Kildonan.

Don enjoyed a successful sales career in commercial printing for over 30 years. Upon retiring from the industry, he worked at Home Depot (Regent) for 10 years. He may have sold you a window or door during his time there.

Don was a talented artist and was known for leaving doodles on any notepad within his reach. His artistic ability ranged from creating logos to birthday banners to Christmas window displays to oil paintings. Some of his artwork still hangs proudly in the homes of the grateful recipients.

Don loved playing, watching and talking about golf. A highlight of his life was when he was able to play a round of golf at Pebble Peach. He enjoyed travelling with his family and visited many places, his favourite being Waikiki where he loved watching the sunset from the lanai.

Don loved going for drives, whether it was to the grocery store, down River Road to Lockport or to his favourite spot, Kildonan Park. His willingness to drive anyone anywhere earned him the nickname of “Uber Don”. When at home, you could find him watching the Bombers and Jets games, engaging in some form of lawn care or sitting on his deck, where he loved to BBQ, admire his backyard and lifeguard his family in the pool. He liked to refer to himself as “Don Hasselhoff”.

His family would like to thank Dr. Carey Isaac and Dr. Mollie Atainyang for their excellent and compassionate care of Don.

Don will be remembered as kind and loving with a beautiful smile and generous spirit. He was the most supportive husband and dad. He always had a story to tell, advice to give, a joke to make and a hug to give. Our world was just a little bigger and a happier place with him in it.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
