On May 20, 2022, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend, Edie Grier, went home. Edie was pre-deceased by her husband Norm, son Leonard, parents, Erma and Frank Gall Sr, her sisters Violet and Julia, and brother Frank Jr. She is survived by her brother Clayton Gall, sister-in-law Wilma, and many, many, many other relatives and friends.
Edie was born in Handsworth, Saskatchewan on August 29, 1934 and moved to Winnipeg in 1956 where she met and married Norm Grier. They had four children, Leonard, Glen (Michelle), Cindy and Shenda.
Norm and Edie started out living in Rankin Inlet, moved out of the north to Winnipeg, and then ran Ridgeville Garage with Edie as the bookkeeper and later she ran the Ridgeville Grocery store. Edie was active in the community, a member of the W.I., curling club, The Club, 4-H, and supported all community events. They then moved on to semi-retirement in Paradise Village but soon Edie was up north in Island Lake running the Mikisew hardware/grocery store. After Norm passed, Edie moved into Winnipeg.
Edie’s biggest love was her family, often making trips back to Saskatchewan as well as venturing through Saskatchewan to Alberta. She cherished her grandchildren Jackson (Jen) and Jackson’s ever supporting mother Kimberley, Scott, Richard (Angela), Hope (Riley), Robyn-Lynn (Terence), Liam and David. Great-grandchildren Octavia, Jacob, Collin, Rory, Isla, Una, Sonnie, Lyra, Coda, Orin, and Arleigh.
Edie will be fondly remembered by all for her candid antics, great sense of humour, cinnamon buns, leather-like steak, and compassionate caring. A great cheerleader, supporter and caring woman, Edie will be sadly and forever missed.
