ETHEL LEWSEY NEE (SMITH)
NOVEMBER 5, 1920 – NOVEMBER 2, 2020
It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of ETHEL LEWSEY, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who passed away November, 2, 2020 at Maples Long Term Care Home in Winnipeg, MB.
Ethel Lewsey was born in North Battleford SK. November 5, 1920. She grew up in Regina SK, being the oldest of nine children of George and Arrenna Smith. The Regina Apostolic Church played a big part in their lives, where every member of the family experienced the saving grace of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
After living a short period in Calgary, AB, Ethel moved to Winnipeg where her parents and many siblings were living at that time. It wasn’t long after that she married Lawrence, and together they raised two children. Ethel worked at various secretarial jobs as well as becoming secretary of Pilgrim Baptist Church, secretary of the Sunday School at Zion Apostolic Church and secretary/treasurer of the ladies Missionary Ministry. Ethel can be remembered as a prayer warrior. Her heart was very compassionate and she spent many hours in prayer for the salvation and needs of others.
To say that Ethel loved her family is an understatement. She hovered like a lioness to protect and stand up for the ones she loved. She had peace and confidence in her Lord that never wavered.
Ethel could also tell stories that would keep her family laughing for hours, especially when she would try to tell a funny story but couldn’t get through it as laughter took over her body uncontrollably.
She will be missed everyday!
