Germaine Marie Trudeau

Germaine Trudeau passed away peacefully on May 1, 2014, with family members at her bedside.

She is survived by her children: Florence May (David), Gerald Trudeau, Yvette Tellier (Guy),

Alain Trudeau (Irene), Denis Trudeau (Mary), and Charles Trudeau. Her grandchildren are Dan

Tellier (Michelle), Marc Tellier (Krista), Matthieu Trudeau (Patricia), Roger Trudeau, Ken Trudeau, Curtis Trudeau (Melanie), Tyler Trudeau, Kevin Trudeau, Rufus May and Chris May. Her great-grandchildren are Zach, Seth and Anna Tellier.

Germaine was born on September 9, 1926 in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba. She grew up on a farm and attended the local convent school. She got her teaching certificate and taught school in Ste. Anne. She then moved to Winnipeg and worked at a clothing manufacturer for some years. Married to Rene Trudeau in October, 1950, she moved to Ile des Chenes. Germaine worked hard as a farming partner, housewife, and assistant at the local Caisse Populaire. She retired along with Rene, and they moved to a house in the village. After some years, Germaine and Rene moved once more, to Dakota House in St. Vital. This was her home until November 2013, when Germaine moved again to Beacon Hill Lodge.

Germaine was an accomplished seamstress, enthusiastic gardener, and a generous friend. She was always concerned about her family’s well-being, and enjoyed gatherings where “the kids” surrounded her with their love.

Germaine was predeceased by her husband, Rene, her sister Juliette, and her brothers Marcien and Paul Duval, and her parents, Ludger and Elizabeth Duval.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge (Revera) for their compassionate and kind care.
