With deep sorrow our family announces the passing of our husband, father, uncle, brother and grandfather Gilbert Beardy at the age of 63 years. Surrounded by his family he entered into eternal rest to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on December 26, 2016 at the Seven Oaks Hospital.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy and Emmanuel and step-daughter Verna, and a special niece Angie Richard. He will be missed by his brother, Willie Beardy, sisters Maryanne (Hubert) Felix, and Lena Beardy and Brother-in-law Angus Richard (Martha). Also, left to mourn his passing are many nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Bella (1998) and Louie (1959) Beardy and his sisters, Martha Richard (2010), Mabel Brass (1997), and Helen Sinclair (1974) and Brother John James Beardy (2003).
Gilbert was born in Lake St. Martin Manitoba and was the youngest of eight children. He resided in Lake St. Martin First Nation during his early years and at a very young age moved to Winnipeg. Shortly after he started work at Whittenbergs Lumber yard on Pipeline Rd. when he was 14 years old where he worked for 26 years. In 1990 he met Dorothy whom he married in 1994. They have lived in Winnipeg for the last 22 years, and were foster parents up until the time of his passing.
Uncle “Ted” gave his heart to the Lord in 1994, and loved to travel to various First Nation communities including Red Lake, White Dog, Shoal Lake, Grassy Narrows Ontario, and Little Grand Rapids Manitoba to support various ministries with his travelling companion the late Rodney Owens. These trips included his passion of video taping services and compiling many videos.
On December 23rd 2016 he celebrated his 63rd Birthday with a party hosted by his wife Dorothy and his sisters Maryann and Lena. He was happy and so pleased to have his nephews and nieces with him to celebrate this special day. During this time, he expressed his final wishes regarding the day he passes, and he encouraged us, his family, to Love one another. He told us to be happy and not to cry as we celebrate his life. Today we celebrate his life remembering all his happy times and sad and difficult times, through it all he depended on the Lord and gained strength by always cultivating his love and passion for his loved ones through his daily phone calls. I know we will miss his phone calls. Until we meet again.
