Irene Maria Brandt

Irene Brandt, 66, of Winnipeg, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2021 with her sons by her side, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Irene was born to George and Maria Borek on September 23, 1954. After Irene graduated from St. John’s High School, Irene worked various administrative jobs throughout her life.

She met Derek Brandt while working at Buffy’s Ice Cream Parlour and they went on to marry in 1973. Irene’s husband passed away in 2001 and she missed him every day.

In 2012 her grandson was born and starting in 2014 a granddaughter was born every year for the next four years. Irene loved her grandchildren and after retirement in 2013 she spent as much of her free time as possible with them. They loved to play with their goofy grandma and they always made her smile. She loved them more than anything.

Irene was predeceased by her father, George, and her husband, Derek. She is survived by her mother Maria, sons Kevin (Carine) and Corey (Patricia), sisters Edith (Tom) and Lisa (Ken), grandchildren Alex, Elizabeth, Amy, Abigail and Ashley, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses and other staff that took care of her during her battle.
