Jan was born on February 12, 1925, in Zwolle Holland, to Leendert and Janje (Richter) Vinke. He took his schooling in Holland and immigrated to Canada with his wife in 1954. He persevered and found work in Winnipeg as a mechanic at TransAir later at Canadian Airlines.
Jan was a very loving man and proud of his daughter Peggy Legras, grandsons Derrick and Jake, and great-grandchildren; son Roy (Rosemary) and granddaughters Candace (Matt) and Kristen. He is also survived by his sisters Jo and Dora in Holland, sister Lois (Cor) in Winnipeg, as well as two sister-in-law, Rietie and Jetty in Holland. Jan was predeceased by brothers Louis and Antoon.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Angel Mausoleum, located in Green Acres Cemetery, Highway #1 East at Navin Road, on Saturday, September 24 at 10 am. A reception will follow.
