It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Wyryha, who courageously battled cancer until his final moments on August 8, 2024. Jim's strength, resilience and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity were a testament to the extraordinary person he was in every way. Born in 1968 and raised in Winnipeg, Jim lived his life to the fullest from working on any project and helping where needed no matter the task at hand. His life was full of love, laughter and kindness creating a strong connection to those around him.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Kathy of 33 years, his parents, Lawrence and Rose, his brother, Ken (Karen), his niece Tiana, nephew Braeden as well as his fur babies – Koko, Pellie and Kai Jai. The void left by his passing is immeasurable; the memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is now at rest with his beloved pets – Shelby, Coke, Pepsi and Kahlua.
Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors from water sports, to walking in the bush picking mushrooms, to curling and skating on the lake ice. From camping under the stars, to building their dream cottage, family and friends gathered at the cabin sharing stories and jokes with hysterical laughter. Jim loved to travel, visiting numerous countries including a trip to Ukraine with his dad as well as cruising with friends and family.
He was a Star Wars fanatic – from collecting memorabilia, to watching the series numerous times and even dressing up as Darth Vadar for Halloween. He is being laid to rest in his favorite Star Wars fleece onesie pajamas.
He loved all sports; from being a Goldeyes season ticket holder with his dad and Uncle Richard to attending numerous Grey Cups and attending as many hockey games here and away as he could.
Jim worked for the Federal Government for 25 years and was the recipient of the Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions. Jim and Kathy were retired 3 years after being Operators of the Sage Creek McDonald’s Restaurant and were proud to have received the Running Great Restaurants Award in 2020.
Though his time with us was cut short, Jim’s legacy will endure in the stories we share and the laughter he inspired. He leaves behind a community of family and friends who will forever remember the joy he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba in Jim's honor, celebrating the love that he shared with the world.
