Peacefully on August 20, 2018 with his son and daughter-in-law at home, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s and Pulmonary Fibrosis, passed away. Growing up in Dauphin, MB, with two older sisters, Birdie (Helen) and Jean, people all called him Jack. Born on March 4, 1938, Jack moved from Dauphin at the age of 16 and helped his Uncle Bill on the carnival or the pipeline during the summers and attending St. Johns during the other seasons. It was in Winnipeg where Jack met the love of his life, Dorothy Enns. Married in 1965, they had their only child, Robert, in May of 1970. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing and the family cottage during the summer and fall months and cross-country skiing during the winter. Strong with his love for his wife, his life changed with the loss of his Dorothy in February, 2006. Jack stayed strong for many years, keeping up with exercise and travelled the Camino walking trail in Spain for three months. However, failing eyesight and the loneliness of life without Dorothy slowed him down and he moved in with his son and his family where he would live his final couple of years.
The family wishes to thank the Palliative care nurses that were so helpful and a true comfort in his last days. Thank you to NP on Wheels for getting help for us.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 27 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
