Kenneth Walter Campbell, age 97, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the River East Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.
Ken’s warmth and kindness will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of 37 years, Leonie; his daughter Maryanne (Stanley) Klasz; his grandchildren Dustin, Ashley Chatfield, and Carrie (Joseph) Prince/Boehm; his great-grandchildren Travis and Lewis Boehm; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth, and Christine; his sisters, Debbie, Jean, and Maybelle; his brothers, Eddie, Donald, and Gordon; and his daughter, Lynn Chatfield.
Ken was born February 23, 1928, in Roseau, Minnesota. He moved with his family from Roseau to Thunder Bay, ON, before settling in Winnipeg at an early age.
Ken was a retired supervisor for CN Railway for 40-plus years. He traveled and supervised many runs over the years throughout his career. Ken approached every task with dedication and care, taking genuine pride in his work at the railway and at home. He always strived for excellence.
In his retired years, Ken loved to travel with Leonie. They always traveled either to Thunder Bay, Nashville, TN or Kissimmee, FL. They enjoyed countless bus trips with various bus lines to casinos in the States. Many of those bus trips were through the Belgium Club recreation club. He always enjoyed those immensely.
Other than buses, Ken always drove everywhere as he would always say he would travel by trains, bus, or car, but NEVER was he ever found flying.
He was a member of the Norwood Legion and the Belgium Club where he and Leonie spent many hours dancing and socializing with friends, family, and retired coworkers.
Ken had a great love of nature. He spent countless peaceful hours nurturing flowers, trimming shrubs, and enjoying the simple pleasures of yard work.
Ken touched our hearts in many ways that words cannot describe. His presence will be deeply missed, and we will treasure the memories we all shared with him while we keep his spirit alive within us.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service or gathering. We kindly ask that friends and family honor this decision in their own personal and meaningful ways.
