Peacefully on Dec 2, 2022, surrounded by his family, the Lord called Klaas home. He was born Nov 3, 1925, in Bierum the Netherlands and educated there. He served with the Dutch Expeditionary Force in Indonesia from 1946 – 1950. In April 1951 he married Tryntje (Tina) Braaksma and immigrated in July the same year to Canada, settling into Winnipeg, where they raised a family of 5 boys and 1 girl. Klaas started working for Ogilvie Flour Mills in 1952 until his retirement in 1988. After their retirement they spent summers in Winnipeg and travelled to Holland most winters until 1998. Then Tina passed in April 2004.
Klaas remarried Utje (Eva) Van Dorp on Oct 1, 2005.
Klaas will be greatly missed by his sons Bill (Viviane), Ike (Cheryl), John (Giselle), Gary (Yvonne), Ron (Marianne), daughter Jenny (Al); his 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and 1 sister in Canada and 2 sisters in Holland, as well as Eva’s children and their families: and numerous nieces and nephews.

Weep not for me, but courage take. Love each other for my sake. For those you love don’t go away. They walk beside you every day.
Pallbearers would be his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
