With sadness, surrounded by his loved ones, we announce the passing of Larry William Wah after a brief battle with cancer.
Larry was predeceased by his wife (Susan) of 54 years in 2021. Larry leaves behind two children, Darrin (Sue) and Tami (Al) and 3 granddaughters, Hannah, Jessie and Jenna.
Larry was born in Cartwright, MB, became an avid outdoorsmen, enjoying fishing, bird hunting, and some big game hunting.
One of Larry’s biggest passions in life was fishing, having caught many Master Anglers throughout his life, he was two short of his Grand Master Gold Badge only due to releasing 2 species several times without completing all the details which we joked about many times.
There were many years spent at Pioneer Bay, a campsite in Pinawa with his family and friends. Countless hours around a campfire and fishing.
Larry was a founding and life member of the Winnipeg Trap and Skeet Club. Being one of the best trapshooters in Manitoba, he shot numerous 100 straight in singles and doubles. Among many of his shooting achievements, he proudly attended the Western Canadians and the Grand American Shoots. Another milestone for Larry was being inducted into the trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2000.
Another passion Larry had was spending time and training dogs. He had a special bond with Kaycee and Oakley who were also by his side at the end. Larry enjoyed the company of many neighbors and friends. He touched the hearts and taught many about shooting and fishing and will be sadly missed by all who met him and spent time with him.
As per Larry’s request there will be no service.
Special thanks to Selkirk Regional Health Authority, Dr. Gillette and the MAID Team along with the nursing staff who helped care for him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
As dad would always say “Straight Shooting and Tight Lines”.
