It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear brother Luigi at the age of 59.
Our brother will be missed by his brothers Mike (Lucy), Peter (Pauline), Salvatore and his sisters Rita Urciuoli and Dolores Hirschkorn; sister- in-laws Elda and Rita.
Luigi was predeceased by his parents Nicola and Maria (Guffei) Giancola; his brothers Joe, Albert and Tony; and sister-in-laws Giuditta and Ruth and brother-in-law Pellegrino.
Luigi will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Luigi was better known to his family as Louie.
Luigi was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on December 12, 1959. He worked at Imperial Parking doing maintenance work for many years.
He enjoyed watching TV, especially WWF wrestling and M.A.S.H. reruns. He also enjoyed listening to music on his radio or wearing ear buds when he was out. Luigi was a huge Elvis fan, frequently going with family to Elvis impersonators, his home was filled with posters, pictures and much more memorabilia. Luigi also had a passion for old cars.
In 2014, Luigi was given an award for being voted as a good neighbour in Transcona for his constant work at cleaning up and always greeting people with a big smile. He was truly a kindred spirit.
Our sincere thank you to all the staff at TSEN for their exceptional care over the past eight years. The family would also like to thank the staff at ICU at Concoridia Hospital and the ICU at Health Sciences Center for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transcona Springfield Education Network (TSEN).
There will be a memorial service on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home on Hwy 1 East at Navin road.
