It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Marc Tellier, who peacefully passed away on September 25, 2021 at 43 years young. Marc was predeceased by his mother Yvette Tellier (2019) and father-in-law Dave Fost (2015).
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Krista, father Guy, brother Dan (Marla), nephews Brandon, Zachary, Matthew, Seth and Jonathan, nieces Jade and Anna, mother-in-law Janet, sister-in-law Sherri (Loren) as well as several extended networks of family, friends and professional colleagues.
Marc grew up in Winnipeg where he was very active in sports at an early age. His Dad, Guy, coached him in soccer, baseball and hockey. Marc became an avid hockey player, playing several years for the St. Vital Victorias at the AA level.
In his early twenties he moved to Toronto where he met the love of his life, Krista. Marc and Krista eventually moved to Winnipeg, where Marc began a challenging career in the mechanical industry. Marc earned academic awards as he advanced through his Refrigeration and Air Conditioning apprenticeship. Shortly after obtaining his Red Seal, Marc started with Lowe Mechanical Services where he worked as a Gas Fitter/HVAC technician for the next 12 years. Always wanting a challenge, Marc took on a new role as Commercial/Industrial Gasfitter (Class A) Instructor at Red River College. Recently, Marc returned to Lowe Mechanical Services in a supervisory role created specifically for him where he excelled at mentoring technicians. Marc’s work ethic and technical expertise earned him respect among his coworkers and throughout the industry.
Marc enjoyed music. He was in a high school band, made his own instruments (African thumb piano, dulcimer), played the guitar and wrote his own music. Marc wanted to be outside whenever possible: puttering in the yard, camping, and fishing - often with his dad or nephews. He and Krista spent a lot of time hiking and biking. They were also in a photography group - Krista says his hidden talent was his incredible photo editing skills. Marc’s favourite thing was travelling the world. He and Krista explored several off-the-beaten-path destinations, such as Dominica and Rapa Nui. They also enjoyed vacations with Marc’s parents in Mexico and Krista’s mom in Chile.
Marc spent countless hours helping his family with home improvement and maintenance projects. He had an uncanny ability to understand technical issues, resolve problems and engineer complex projects. He was instrumental in helping his brother Dan with home improvement projects within the last year. To say that Marc was talented beyond comprehension in his ability to fix the unfixable is an understatement. Recently, Marc brought Dan’s 40 year old residential air conditioner back to life, saying that “it will be good for at least another 5 years”. Marc was truly a genius in his field, and in his acts of service for others.
Marc enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always a reliable source of humour, wit, and inspiration. He didn’t like following the crowd and his calming demeanour and intelligence resonated with those around him. Marc was always willing to help anyone when asked. He was a strong pillar to the family after the untimely loss of his mother in October 2019.
Marc will be forever missed by his family, friends and colleagues. Marc was truly one of a kind and will always be in our hearts.
Funeral service for anyone wanting to attend will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 12 at TC Energy Centre, 1 Rivard Street in Île-des-Chênes. Masks are mandatory and guests will be required to provide proof of vaccination.
