She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered as a selfless, kind and giving woman. Maria was also known to never complain about anything, even as she suffered great pain, she never spoke about it- preferring to suffer in silence so as not to stress out her loved ones. This was typical Maria, always thinking of others first no matter what.
Maria will be lovingly remembered by her son Alviso Lanzellotti, her 4 grandchildren Justin Lanzellotti (Natalie), Jordan Lanzellotti, Jessica Lanzellotti and Dorian Lanzellotti, her nieces and nephews, Odessa Rosati (Sam), Ursula Rosati, Fabrizio Rosati (Maria), Giuliana Maurizio (Nicola) and Piero Maurizio, her sister-in-law Lita Rosati, her daughter-in-law Donna Lanzellotti and all her beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by the love of her life my father Rocco Lanzellotti who were married for 60 years, her first-born son Tony Lanzellotti followed by Germano Lanzellotti, her parents Maddalena and Carmine Rosati, brothers Rocco Rosati, Nicola Rosati and her sister Giselda Rosati.
Mom arrived to Canada in 1955 to meet up with my father who married her before he ventured off to Canada four years prior to make a better life for themselves as Europe was war torn and still recovering from the 2nd World War.
Mom stayed home to raise 3 rowdy young sons all her life as dad worked hard to support his growing family. They never argued to my recollection and spoke fondly of each other their entire lives. They had a deep love and respect for each other.
Special thanks must be given to Kim Spencer-Gagne for being by her side and with the family those last few days and to Odessa Rosati for taking care of mom for the past decade, which was no easy feat- truly my mom’s angel. And finally, to the staff at the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre for their compassionate care in her final days.
At the family’s request, there will be a private service planned for family only. She will be laid to rest at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.
