It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald McDonald and that he left this world to join his loved ones who went before him.
Ron leaves to mourn Gladys, his wife of 40 years, Sisters-in-law Mabel Allen of Sudbury, ON and Rachael Allen of St. Charles, ON; Robert (Bobby) and Alex McDonald and children Piper and Ethan of Alabama, US; Dan Loiselle and Vicky Loiselle along with their children Abbey and Jordan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins from both the McDonald and Buchanan side.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Minnie McDonald, grandmother Annie McNiel, brothers: George, Nelson, Frank, Alfred, Robert (Bert), sister Irene, and sisters-in-law Jeanette, Irma, and Florence.
Ron was raised on the farm in Vivian, Manitoba where he resided with his wife Gladys until he had a heart attack at home at the age of 87 years.
Ron worked in many different occupations during his life: D.E. W. Line, farmer, owned and operated a Timber Sale, saw mill operator, heavy equipment operator in Northern Alberta, Peat Moss Plant in Elma, MB, Cormark Dist. In Winnipeg, soil testing in the RM of Springfield, and semi truck driver. He was an active union member and ran for Councilor in Ward 5.
Ron was involved in different areas of his community. He helped with the finishing aspects of the Ronald McDonald House in 1984. He was an active member of the Anola United Church, held a position on the Anola Daycare Board and the Anola Over Fifty Club, served on the RCMP Advisory Committee, and was a member of the Ophir Masonic Lodge #112.
After retiring, Ron and Gladys loved to reavel with their fifth wheel camper. They spent 6 months of each year at Apache Junction, Arizona where they made many great friends. They enjoyed traveling to various parts of Canada and United States, visiting family in Michigan, Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
Ron also had a love for nature, especially his birds and he enjoyed gardening.
Gladys is very thankful for the 911 Operator, the EMTs, and the RCMP for doing all they could to help Ron. Special thanks to Pierre Vermette, Victor Cherwinski, and Barb Klenk for all their help on that night.

A Memorial Service will be held once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
