Shirley was born August 25, 1946 in Vita, Manitoba. It is where she met and married Jarvis. They settled in a few places before finding a permanent residence in Dufresne, Manitoba. That’s where they raised their 3 children. Shirley started out in construction trade of making stairs with her son Scott. After her husband Jarvis passed away the family hobby farm was sold and she moved to the city and resided in a condo on Plessis Road. From there she started her own business of cleaning homes. She did some catering, as she loved to cook the traditional Ukrainian meals. Probably her proudest moments were spending time with her six grandchildren when it was time for “weekend at Baba’s”. She loved playing bingo, going to the casino and spending time with her family.
Shirley leaves to mourn her passing three children; Annette (Joe) Tymchen, Scott (Kim) and Steven (Cynthia); Six grandchildren; Kyle and Cassandra, Michael and Warren, Alex and Katie and 2 great-grandchildren Lucas Caron and Olivia Sands; her mother Nellie Strumbicky, brothers Barry Strumbicky, Angie ( Darrin), Judy (Wayne) Baniuk , Margie (Glen) Yeryk . She was predeceased by her father John Strumbicky.
As per her wishes cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest with her husband Jarvis.
The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital Renal Ward who looked after her dialysis, the nurses and doctors who looked after her while she was in hospital, and the homecare personal. Also her friends from her condo who would meet at the side door and sit and talk for hours in the summer. Thanks to David who was there for her and kept an eye on her for us when we could not.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends desire donations may be made in her name to the St. Boniface Hospital.
