

ARCHIE S. HOLLON,93 years of age, and long-time resident of New Albany, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Bardstown, KY. Archie was born April 14, 1919 in Letcher County, KY to the late John W. and Bertha (Hampton) Hollon. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army and landed on Utah Beach on D-Day with the 12th Infantry, 4th Motorized Division. Archie retired from Naval Ordnance as a machinist. He was a life member of both the VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693 in New Albany and the Disabled American Veterans, and was a former member of the Culbertson Baptist Church and Grace Lutheran Church, both in New Albany. Along with his parents, Archie was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, June Polly Hollon.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenna Hollon; grandson, Darren Deich; granddaughter, Leah Riggs; great granddaughter, Ellora Hollon Riggs; dear friends, Jane Hays and her family; and his beloved pet, Bella.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Friday and after 12:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial and military honors to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
