Bernard Joseph Downs, 79 year of age, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Baptist Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was born July 5, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Herbert Downs and Mary Nettie (Hall) Downs. Bernard retired from both the old American Bakery Company and Flint Ink Corporation. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Evilee Anderson Downs.
Survivors include his children, Brian Downs (Elesha), Bill Downs (Melissa), Angela McEwen (Brian); grandchildren, Brennan Bernard Downs (Colleen), Elizabeth Schneider (Brandon), Ryan Downs, Darlene Downs, Aidan McEwen, Calvin McEwen, and John Murphy McEwen.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana with cremation to follow.
