Charles "Dave" Neuhauser

Charles D. “Dave” Neuhauser, age 86 of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on December 1, 2023. He was one of four children born to the late Charles and Lucille (Wolff) Neuhauser on November 11, 1937, in Scottsburg, Indiana. Dave worked as a maintenance foreman for the University of Louisville for many years until retirement. He was a third-generation fireman and worked for the Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Dave also served in the United States Army Reserves. He enjoyed exploring caves and was a leader in paving the way for Cumberland Caverns, one of Tennessee’s famous caves. Later in life, Dave would meet the love of his life, Sharron “Sherrie” (Hafley) Neuhauser and together they would join their families and begin their journey. Dave was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and papaw. In his spare time, Dave loved traveling. He and Sherrie especially enjoyed cruising and trips to Vegas. He was an avid “IU” fan, coached little league baseball, performed in roller skating exhibitions, and was known as “Captain Dr. Pepper”. Last, but not least, Dave loved John Wayne and Gunsmoke. Along with his parents, Dave is preceded in death by a brother, Don Neuhauser. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Sherrie; children, John Neuhauser (Michelle), Doug Neuhauser, Tiffany Horner (Chad), and Gretchen Moscovitz; grandchildren, Joshua, Amber, Ryan, Collin, Ky, JJ, Jazmine, and Jade; great-grandchildren, Rayden and Aariyah; siblings, Dotty Christenson, and Nancy Tobias; sister-in-law, Deedree Zerfas (Bryan) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held for Dave on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Dave will be laid to rest in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park following the service.
