Charles F. Stumler Jr., 93, of New Albany, Indiana passed away in the early morning of May 25, 2021 at Autumn Woods Health Campus. He was born on August 1, 1927 to the late Charles Francis Stumler Sr. and Virginia Jacquemin Stumler. In addition to his parents he is proceeded in death by his recently late wife Joyce "Fig" Stumler, a son Douglas Stumler and daughter Jennifer Terry (David), and siblings John "Jack" Stumler and Joseph Stumler.Charlie was a sweet and gentle soul. His love for Fig was unmeasurable and the countless love letters would show that. Some truly believe he passed away from a broken heart when Figgy left us just two months ago.Charlie and Fig were married for 69 beautiful, fulfilling years. They had four amazing children and spent many of those years traveling and going on vacations together. There were many trips taken with the entire family, grandkids and all, crammed into their "motor home" down to Blue River to their camp. Charlie always had the music cranked up loudly and would play "Rolling on The River" by Creedence Clearwater back to back.Charlie loved having fun. He and Fig often went with their close friends to Jim Porters in Louisville for music and dancing. They loved listening to Freddie George anywhere he played. You could often find them at Fifth Quarter and Breckinridge Inn. Charlie loved throwing a good party at their home, as well. He and Fig were the ultimate hosts and always made sure everyone was happy and having a good time.Charlie bought his uncles shop when he was just 18 years old and thats when Stumler Auto Electric came into the picture. He ran that shop for 75 years and it still stands to this day. Along with running the family business, he ran the Indy 500 trip for close family and friends every year, for 60 years. He was an avid race fan. He was also a huge IU basketball fan. Charlie would have had their entire home covered in IU memorabilia if Figgy would have let him. One of his favorite things was his red IU jacket. He wore that thing everywhere, even on the hot summer days.Charlie's family and friends meant everything to him. He was the most loving and doting husband one could ever ask for, along with being the best father and grandfather. Along with Figgy, Charlie would do anything for anybody. His heart was truly pure gold and full of love.Charlie is survived by two children, Chuck Stumler (Rita) and John Stumler (Amy) and son-in-law David Terry (Jenny); six grandchildren, Erica, Jessica, Derek, Kaelin, Andrea and Holly; eight great grandchildren, Anna, Landon, Elaina, Aniston, Maximus, Kaylin, Sophia and Isaac, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.' Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021 and from 8:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
