Charles "Bob" Robert Throckmorton

Charles Robert “Bob” Throckmorton, age 87, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1937, to the late Floyd Omar Throckmorton and Elizabeth Beutel Throckmorton in New Albany, Indiana, during the aftermath of The Ohio River Great Flood of 1937. He grew up in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was a member of the first graduating class of Our Lady of Providence High School in 1955. He then attended Bellarmine University and received a bachelor's degree in history in 1960. He furthered his studies by earning a Master of Education degree at Catherine Spalding University in 1969. Bob was a teacher at Parkview Junior High School in Jeffersonville for thirteen years. He was the co-owner of Clark County Beverage Company with his brother, Ted Throckmorton, until his retirement in 2000. Bob was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 362, Moose Lodge 1757, and Knights of Columbus Council 1348. He was an avid golfer (five hole-in-ones) and made many friends through golfing. Bob was a football coach while teaching at Parkview Junior High, and an all-around sports enthusiast. He also actively enjoyed boating, fishing, playing cards, traveling, house cleaning, and playing practical jokes on his buddies. Bob lived life to the fullest, spending his time with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Throckmorton, and brother, Ted Throckmorton.

Bob is survived by his children, Gregg (Susan) Throckmorton, Jeff (Connie) Throckmorton and Roberta Throckmorton (Ed Davenport); grandchildren, Justin (Samantha Stotts), Rachel, Jarod, and Austin Throckmorton; great grandsons, Eli and Luke Throckmorton; sister, Carolyn DeMichele; numerous nieces and nephews; and "lady friend" Judy Bell.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025, with Fr. Florian Tiell, OFM Conv, officiating at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 North Sherwood Drive, Clarksville, Indiana. Burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
