

CLARENCE LOUIS "JOHNNY" JOHNSON, 86, died January 12, 2014 in New Albany. He was born July 30, 1927 in New Albany to the late Harvey E. and Mary (Gelbach) Johnson. Clarence was an engineer with General Electric Co. from 1956 until 1976 and retired from the American Sterilizer Co. in 1992. He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy class of 1952 with a degree in Engineering. He proudly served his country in both W.W.#2 and the Korean War in the Navy and Air Force. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 as a Seaman 1st Class and Midshipman from 1948 until 1952. He also served in the U.S Air Force as a Captain from 1952 until 1956. Johnny was an active member of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Southeast Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy L. (Lanham) Johnson; three sons, Steven L. Johnson and his wife, Dona, Daniel L. Johnson and his wife, Lucy, David L. Johnson and his wife, Denise; brother, Frederick Johnson; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Reception of Family and Friends will be from 3:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday and after 1:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with full military honors. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
