Clyde David "Dave" Hornback, 74, of Jeffersonville, Indiana (formally from Louisville, Kentucky), passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025. He was born on June 5, 1951, to the late Clyde and Lyda Hornback.
Dave was a proud and dedicated member of the Teamsters for 32 years, working at the Port of Louisville. Known for his dependable nature, big heart, and deep love for his family, Dave was someone you could always count on.
He had a lifelong passion for sports and was a devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, the New York Yankees, and the Green Bay Packers. Whether cheering on his teams or enjoying time at Belterra Casino, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Some of his fondest memories were made on family vacations to the beach — a tradition he cherished deeply.
Dave leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara Hornback; his children Tonya Hornback(Jeremy), Misty Ward(John), Wayne Hornback, and Nathan Woosley; and his beloved grandchildren: Avrielle Chesher, Gavin Chesher, Ally Walsh(David), Gabby Ward, Kyle Woosley, and Tyler Woosley. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Meredith Walsh.
He also leaves behind his sisters Joyce Burnett, Patricia Hawkins, and Sharyn Warford; sister-in-laws Saundra Smith and Stephanie Dennis; brother-in-laws Bruce Wagner, Billy Dennis and David Dennis (Shannon); and a host of nieces and nephews and sidekick and best buddy, Rock, who never left his side.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lyda Hornback; his father and mother-in-law Cecil and Ruth Dennis; sister Virginia Wagner; sister-in-law, Staci Dennis; and brother-in-laws Wayne Smith, Hank Hightower, Mike Dennis, and Bill Burnett.
Above all, Dave was a family man — steady, loving, and full of heart. His presence will be missed beyond words, but his legacy lives on through the laughter of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, the strength of his children, and the love he shared with his wife Barbara.
He will be remembered always for his steady presence, generous heart, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 10th at Kraft Funeral Home (2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN 47150) from 11am-2pm. Dave's funeral service will follow at 2pm. Burial will take place in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
