Darrell Lee Thompson, 71, a lifelong resident of New Albany, Indiana left this world on November 20, 2025, at the age of 71 with his family by his side. He was retired after 30 years of service with Ford Motor Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Thompson and Eva Burnett.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Debra Freiberger Thompson; a son, Christopher Thompson (Deanna); a daughter, Tina Thompson; two granddaughters, Alissa Nix (Jonah) and Brooklin Thompson; and one great grandson, Rowan Nix. Darrell is also survived by two brothers, Ronald Thompson and Jesse Lynn Thompson; a sister, Terry Daughtery as well as several other family members and friends. Darrell will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man known for his strong work ethic and integrity.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on December 1, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, starting at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church Cemetery.
