David Q. “Pop’s” Whitaker, 78 years of age passed away on February 24, 2022 in New Albany, Indiana. He was born October 29, 1943 in New Albany to the late Robert and Wanda Whitaker. David was a veteran of the United States Army and retired after 34 years with the railroad. He was a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post #28 in New Albany and was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; son, David Whitaker-Mayfield; son-in-law, Scott Millard; and brother, Jerry Whitaker.
Survivors include his children, Michele Millard, Tommy Whitaker; sisters, Linda Kirk, Susan Harvey; brother, Rowan Whitaker; granddaughters, Samantha Millard, Heidi Millard; great grandchildren, Maija, Rylie, and Wyleigh.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held 11:00 am Thursday at the funeral home chapel with burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
