Marion, I spoke with Al Baron this weekend. We talked about Dave and how he was one of the best we've ever known. Al told me that his wife once asked him who he would consider his closest and best friend in all the world. Al said that could only be Dave Zimmerman. She mentioned that he didn't even see or speak to him that often. Al said it didn't matter and that when they did, they'd pick up right where they left off. We both agreed that if you were lucky enough to have Dave's friendship, then you had it forever. Just wanted you to know that many of us thought the world of him and miss him. I know you do too and I know and pray that Our Lord comforts you especially this month. I thought I had put some of my feelings on here a year ago but I don't see them now.  I value the time we spent golfing and swimming together that last summer. He was a man of integrity that I could not only look up to but also count on. I sure miss him quite a bit.

My sincere condolences to the Zimmerman family. We will all miss Dave but will never forget his smile. I remember when Dave first brought Rose to the shop on Lowry Lane, and he was smiling from ear-to-ear. I had to assure him that I knew how to hold little ones before he'd let me carry her for a few minutes before grabbing her away from me! And when mom came by to pick her up and take her back home, it was a good 45 minutes before we could even talk about anything else, and this was with a shop full of customers! And he was smiling the entire time. I can't believe that Rose's now married!! In my mind, she's still the little one being held in Dad's arms.

 We are so sorry for your loss. Dave was such a kind and caring person. We cherish the times we have spent with Dave and your family.He was a wonderful father-in-law to Shane. Shane has always had great things to say about him. Our hearts are sadden and we will truly miss him.

I thought I'd be getting home wearing golf clothes and tired  after having played today with Dave and Shane as we had planned. Instead I was in a suit and heartbroken  arriving home and realizing how different things turned out. 
If one was blessed enough to have Dave as a friend, you truly had someone special in your corner. If I ever had to share a foxhole, I'd want it to be with Dave.

I worked for Dave many years ago in Lexington and I am a better person for having known him.  He was passionate and firm but fair and always, always cared about his employees, customers and his business.  I regret I cannot come to the service but I will gladly make a donation in his honor and will hold his memory and best wishes for his family in my heart.  They have suffered a great loss, but then so have we all - the many who knew him and many, many more who benefitted from his work and spirit without even knowing it.  Thank you for the photos. I am so sorry for your loss. My husband Steve and I both worked with Dave at Hi-Fi Buys, my husbanf at Ovation. I lost Steve to cancer on August 30th so I can sympathize with what your family is going through. Maybe Steve and Dave are listening to some tunes together in heaven.

Shane, Rose, and Family, Life is full of ups and downs -- remember the ups and smile of all the wonderful moments you all had together. It is always hard to understand why some of our loved ones go way before our time to let them go, but you will meet again and be a family.The body is gone, but the LOVE lives on.
