Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend
Born on July 12, 1949, in New Albany, IN to the late Eleva ‘Peggy’ (Funk) Rogers and Chester (‘Chet’) Rogers.
He passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 2:12 am at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with his family by his side.
His health issues started in 2017 and he fought through and survived multiple cancers and being on a feeding tube. It’s been a long battle and his body was just too weak and needed rest.
He worked in real estate for many years and finally retired from UPS, where he worked the 3rd shift for 20 years and loved it! He met and made a lot of good friends during that time.
He was so funny, great sense of humor, smart, knowledgeable about a little bit of everything, could talk to anyone about anything, a great storyteller, and the life of the party.
He loved his family and friends, music, his new back porch, his morning coffee, working in and taking care of his yard (before it became too much for him), plants and his raised garden bed, sunflowers, growing tomatoes, flamingos, and was a proud supporter of New Albany High School Bulldogs (especially Romeo Langford and WNAS Radio, which he listened to daily).
Survived by his children, Jennifer Williams (Brad Lefler) and Derek (Kircie) Rogers; his sister Cindy Rogers (Garry); 3 grandsons, (Gavin, Devin, and Kaden); his nephew Rob (Sheri) McCauley; and great-niece Kayln and great nephew Liam, his niece Emily (Jarren) Murphy, and great nieces Elowen and Ayla; his nephew, Chris Sprinkle (Stephanie Bronner); cousin Jon (Sharon) Craig, and many other family members and friends.
Visitation for Denny will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 27, 2022 after 9:00 a.m. at Kraft funeral service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. The funeral will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately following the service in Kraft-Graceland Cemetery.
