

DONALD K. COPLER, SR., 88, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 surrounded by his family. The son of the late Edward and Ada Jones Copler, Donald was born June 8, 1926 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. A resident of Floyds Knobs, he spent many winters in Vero Beach, Florida. He retired from the Courier-Journal & Louisville Times after 34 years and was a member of the International Typographical Union. Donald was an avid bowler and photographer, member of the Classic Antique Restorers Club (C.A.R.), former Board Member and Treasurer of the Floyds Knobs Community Club, and member of the Kentuckiana Square Dancing Association where he was past president and also publicity chairman for the National Square Dance Convention held in Louisville, Ky. Donald also proudly raised funds for the Crusade for Children for 59 years. He was a 60 year member of Floyds Knobs Christian Church and attended both the Advent Christian Church and Scottsville Christian Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Radcliffe Copler; son, Christopher R. Copler; brother, Paul Copler; and great grandson, William David Hnat.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Sampson Copler; sons, Donald K. Copler, Jr., Warren E. Copler (Nancy), David G. Copler (Sharon), Steven R. Copler and Edwin J. Copler (Sandy); step-daughters, Cindy Brady, Suzanne Canter (John), Marcia St. John (Dan) and Lisa Bline (Danny); 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany IN. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial to follow in St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery.
