Dorothy Bowman

Dorothy Bowman, age 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1939, to the late Willis and Frances (Parker) Fanning. After high school, Dorothy attended Roy’s Beauty Academy, where she obtained her license as a beautician. She was married to the love of her life of 65 years, William “Bill” Bowman. Dorothy was a member of Southeast Christian Church and Northside Christian Church.

Dorothy loved being outside and working in her yard. She was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed participating in church events. But most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Clella, Delores, and Polly; brothers Odell, Arlo, James, Arbry, and Jerry; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowman.

She leaves behind her loving husband, William “Bill” Bowman; children, Anthony Bowman (Donna), Tammy Brown (David), and Michelle Sumpter (Jeff); grandchildren, Kyle, Lindsay, Brittany, Billy, Chelsea, Spencer, Megan, and Josh; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arjune Carter.

Dorothy's visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Dorothy will be laid to rest in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
