63; of Floyds Knobs
Funeral services for Gilbert R. Smith, 63, of Floyds Knobs, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany. He died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at his residence in Floyds Knobs.
Gil was born Aug. 10, 1948 in New Albany and was the retired transportation director for the New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation. He was an eagle scout and a member of the old New Albany Country Club.
Survivors include his wife Wanda D. Smith; daughter Amy E. Kelly (Adam) of Sellersburg; step daughter Ashley Byrd (Joe) of New Albany; step son Chris Fuhry of New Albany; brother Kenn H. Smith of Palm Springs, Calif.; grandchildren Haley, Logan and Emily.
Gil was preceded in death by his best buddy, his German Shepherd Ockie.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
