He attended Eastern Kentucky University for 1 year in 1949.
He was then appointed to the Naval Academy and graduated from Annapolis class of 1953.
He served 20 years in the Navy and rose to the level of Commander. He was involved in the conflicts with Cuba during the Cuban Missile crisis, participating in the blockade as well as 3 tours of duty in Vietnam.
He retired from active duty in 1973 and went on to teach NJROTC at Central High School in Louisville, KY until 1993.
He was preceded in death by his mother Edna, Father Harry J, sister Hannah and son John.
He is survived by his wife Thua, his son’s Michael and Daniel, and his grandchildren Jeremy, Scott, Brooklyn and Kyndal.
A visitation for Harry will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, IN, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 2:00 PM.
Harry will be laid to rest in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, IN.
