Hazel Irene Hamblin

HAZEL IRENE HAMBLIN was born in Tazewell, TN on March 27, 1928 to Clayton and Beulah Bryant. She had been a resident of Jeffersonville IN from 1971 to 1988 and was most recently a resident of Sebring FL since 1988. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring. She has one sibling, her younger brother, Clifford. Growing up in rural Tennessee, a strong work ethic and a deep compassion were fostered in Hazel at an early age. This combination of diligence and kindheartedness remained constant throughout her life. Those who knew Hazel could easily feel her warmth and sincerity.

After graduating from Tazewell High School in 1946, she attended Draughton’s Business College in Knoxville TN and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. She served from October 1950 to October 1953 at Eglin AFB where she met her future husband, Mark Hamblin. The two were united in marriage on May 16, 1953. They were married for 54 years. Together the raised four children on the foundation of God’s ever-lasting love. Hazel was a passionate mother, devoted wife, and a benevolent Christian.

Mark Hamblin passed due to Alzheimer’s complications in March 2007. Hazel passed from a weak heart on August 1, 2015 at the age of 87. She is survived by four children, Mike (Liz), Jim (Barb), Becky (Kevin), and Jon (Susan); eleven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, August 7 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. Her Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 8 in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN.
