JAMES O. BARNES, 85 years of age, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The son of the late Otis and Irma (Berry) Barnes, James was born April 9, 1924 in Belton, Texas. He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad and was a World War II Navy veteran. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy S. (Zearfoss) Barnes. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James Roy and Melissa Barnes of Garland TX; daughter, Alison “Beth” Pierce of Chesapeake Beach MD; granddaughters, Lauren Emily Pierce of Clearwater Beach FL and Kara Elizabeth Pierce of Los Angeles CA; sister, Dorothy Eggleston of Killeen TX; companion, Betty Helbig of Jeffersonville IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Monday, March 29, 2010 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany IN. His Funeral Service with military honors will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in the Kraft Chapel with private entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
