Janet S. Love

Janet Sue Dieckmann Love, of New Albany, IN, passed away peacefully at her home early Thursday morning, June 29, 2023, at the age of 89. She was attended by her daughter, Carla Sue Love, and her grandsons, Carl Thomas Love II, Digby Langness, and Hayden Love.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Thomas Love; her parents, Shirley, and Louise Dieckmann; her brother, Dr. James Kenneth Conlan; her sister, Virginia Campbell Owens; her great-niece, Nadia Abukhater; her sister-in-law, Emma Lou Love Cissell; and her brother-in-law, Charles Lesley Cissell.

A lifelong resident of New Albany, she attended New Albany High School and was a dedicated member of the Bulldog Boosters. She worked at Colgate and then in Lafayette while her husband Carl was pursuing an engineering degree from Purdue University. Janet worked diligently on their first business, CT Love and Associates, and then their second business, Love Development.

Janet loved life, her family, and her many friends, several of whom she kept from childhood. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was active in the community and in charity work, quietly putting a number of young people through college. She had an amazing rapport with young children and animals. Janet and Carl had several loving boxers and a number of cats.

She loved to cook and spend summers outside at the pool. She and her husband were regulars at the New Albany Country Club and at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. In later years, she traveled to visit her daughter in Colorado and even attended an Oscars party in Hollywood.

Services for Janet will be held privately.
