John "JD" Douglas Evans, age 91, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1930 and raised in New Albany, Indiana and resided there most of his life. He worked for Floyd County Sheriffs Department during the late 80's and retired in 1992. He started Evans Bonding Company that year and has been doing business in that capacity for 30 years. JD was a veteran of the Untied States Marine Corp and United States Air Force. He was a great storyteller and kept his family and friends entertained throughout the years by his life stories. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Mae Evans, and father, John Evans. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Kimberly Ann (Atwood) Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Joyce (Kime) Evans; five daughters, Deanna (Evans) Robison, Cindy (Evans) Smith, Jennifer Evans, Melody (Evans) Vanfoosen, Tina Lynn Fields; three sons, Robert L. Leffler, Kevin R. Evans, Scott D. Evans; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
A visitation for JD will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Service.
JD will be laid to rest in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
