

John W. Fields “Hoss”, 81, died Saturday August 17th, 2013. He was born June 15th, 1932 in Mayking, Kentucky to the late John Dishmond and Susie Polly Fields. John retired from General Electric Appliance Park after some 38 years of service and after retirement worked for the N.A.F.C. School System. John dearly loved his wife of some 57 years Betty and was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved golf, U.of K. basketball, and was a very talented musician. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and was a longtime member of Main St. United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rex and Lon Fields.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Fields; two sons, J. Dishmond Fields and his wife Sarah and George Fields and his wife Susie; five grandchildren, Courtnie Cunningham (Roy III), Keith and Dishmond Fields, Kena Rickard (Caleb) and Mallorie Mugler (Keith); five great-grandchildren, Rylee, Laynie, and Conlee Cunningham, Abram Rickard and
Mollie Mugler; sister, Minnie Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
Reception of family and friends will be from 2:00pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday and from 10:00 am to 2:00pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday August 21st, in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with full military honors. Private entombment will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
