John "Rick" R. Franklin

John R. “Rick” Franklin, 74 years of age, went to be with his Lord Saturday, April 20, 2019. Rick was born April 21, 1944, in New Albany to the late John William and Valeria L. (Kitterman) Franklin and was employed by the L. Thorn Company for 34 years until retiring in 1995. Rick was a former member of Calvary Apostolic Church in Louisville, Kentucky for 21 years and was currently a member of Christ Tabernacle in New Albany for the past 12 years with Pastor D. A. Cowden. He loved to tinker with cars and was very active in Prison, Hospital and Nursing Home Ministry serving the Louisville and New Albany area for many years along with his pastors. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends and church. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Vickie L. (Caraway) Franklin; children, Mike Franklin (Kristina), Lorinda “Lori” Franklin, Jerry Tindall, Tina Hoffmeister, Judy Scott, John Richard Franklin, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Terry Franklin (Sally), Steve Franklin (Judy), Karla Liles, Lana Steinbarger; several nieces, nephews, and Rick’s favorite pet dog “Gunny”. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25th, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and Friday, April 26th, after 9:00 am until his funeral service in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel at 12:00 pm Friday with Pastor D.
