

John William Jacobi Jr. passed on April 19, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on March 23, 1939, in Navilleton, Indiana, to the late John William Jacobi Sr. and Ruth Schmidt Jacobi. He was a veteran in the United States Army and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. John was the owner of New Albany Welding Works and was also retired from the New Albany Floyd County School System as a bus driver. He maintained an immaculate yard and loved hunting doves and rabbits. John was also known for his handyman ability and could fix anything.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Jacobi; five sisters, Dorothy Hess, Mary Helen Peter, Bernie Doyle, May Jacobi and Fay Jacobi; and a stepson, Gregory "Greg" Stumler.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy (Batliner Stumler) Jacobi; children, Brian Jacobi (Melody), Martin Jacobi (Cheyenne), Cynthia Lynch (Delbert), Robyn Stumler (Tim Freiburger), Bryan Stumler (Tamie) and Renee Stumler; grandchildren, Tyler Jacobi (Caytlin), Bret Jacobi, Carson Jacobi, Jagger Jacobi, Indie Jacobi, Grace Jacobi, Emma Jacobi, Craig Stumler (Katelyn), Stephanie Harpenau (Ben), Kendra Brady (Chris), Ashleigh Stumler, Matthew Lynch (Carly), Karah Tanneberger (Andrew), Kristin Gutierrez (Khristian), Blaze Stumler (Rachael), Malachi Freiburger, Clayton Crum, Chandler Stumler, Ian Stumler and Isabella Stumler; great grandchildren, Cooper Jacobi, Elli Jacobi, Jackson Brady, Ella Harpenau, Hadley Lynch, Brody Harpenau, Landon Brady, Reeves Tanneberger, Luka Lynch, Kohen Stumler, Isla Gutierrez, Hallie Tanneberger and Hayes Tanneberger and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm till 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150 with burial to follow at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
