John E. Peay

John E. Peay, 87, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away Friday morning, August 9, 2024, at his home. He was born August 18, 1936, in Floyd County. John was a graduate of the New Albany High School Class of 1955. Following graduation, he served in the Army, spending time during his service in Italy. John, a proud American throughout his life, flew his flag every day. John spent his career at BF Goodrich/Geon, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Rosemary (Striegel) Peay. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gertrude (Best) Peay, brothers, Raymond “Joe”, Virgil, Elvin, Carl, Paul “Gene”, and Chuck Peay, and two sisters, Eleanor Rosenberger, and Mary Patricia Peay.

John is survived by his children, Angela Brinkworth (Brian), Mark Peay (Christina), and Rebecca Millea (Thomas), his grandchildren, Megan Vissing (Jake), Kaitlin Ainsworth (Mike), Amanda Gosman (Sam), Austin Peay (Anna), and Addison Millea, and his great-grandchildren, Ella and Palmer Vissing, Peayton and Preston Ainsworth, and Katie and Jack Peay.

John’s children and family are grateful for, Krista and SouthernCare Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to SouthernCare Hospice or St. Mary’s of the Knobs Youth Ministry in John’s memory.

A memorial visitation for John will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM. A private family burial will occur Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Mary's of The Knobs Catholic
