

Joseph Collingwood, 82 years of age passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Baptist Health Floyd after a long illness. He was born July 26, 1934 in Memphis, Indiana and lived in Floyds Knobs for many years before moving to Sellersburg. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Small. Upon his return he helped his mother run Baxter's Market in Memphis. In 1960, he married Elizabeth M. Dimler Boone, also of Memphis. Joe worked in the cola bottling business as well as Gordon's Foods service and was a driver for Robert's Express. Joe enjoyed boating, dancing, roller skating, water skiing, and camping with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Geneva Baxter; father, Joseph Collingwood; siblings, Eugene and Charles Baxter.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Bette" (Dimler) Collingwood; children, Diana Collingwood Butts (Larry), Tim Collingwood (Patty), David Collingwood (Stacy), Ted Collingwood (Teresa); 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday and 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral service with military honors will be held at 12:00 pm Monday at the funeral home chapel. Private burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. The family requests expressions of sympathy to go to Kosair Charities.
