Joyce M. Wathen, born on March 15, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 84. She attended Shawnee High School and was retired from Heritage Hardwoods with over 20 years of service. She loved watching the News, playing video games with her daughter Crystal and granddaughter Tesla. Joyce loved to go see new movies with Mary and Aeriel at the theater as well as watching IU basketball with Michelle. She had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Wade and Bertha Maye Harris Wathen; and two sisters, Angela Juanita Spratt (Kenneth) and Barbara Jean Wilding (Oliver).
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Bell (Glen), Michelle Renee Wathen (Leslie) and Crystal M.L. Taul (Matt); two grandchildren, Tesla Taul (Tyler) and Cassandra Taul (Chris); one great grandson, Abel Ray; a sister, Doris Donahue; beloved dog, Toby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on December 19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Funeral service will follow her visitation at 2:00 pm with entombment at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
