Margaret Ann (Schlensker) Crone Carnes

Margaret Ann (Schlensker) Crone Carnes, 85, of New Albany, passed away August 29, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 10, 1934, in Owensboro, Kentucky to John F. and Lillian (Crosley) Schlensker. Margaret was an active member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in New Albany and St. Mary’s Altar Society. She worked nearly 40 years for Kraft Funeral Service as a funeral assistant. She was also one of the founding organizers of the L.I.F.T. widows and widowers support group and was a member of Silver Hill’s Alpha Club. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Crone; second husband, Fred Carnes; son, John Crone; and brothers, John and Jim Schlensker. Survivors include her children, Cathy Fields (Steve), Steve Crone (Betty), Teresa Fountain (Mick), Sue Glordan, and Chris Crone (Shane); grandchildren, Sam, Joe, Tom, Andy, Mary Anne, Joanna, Stuart, Brett, Katie, Mitch, Jack, Maci, and Corbin; great grandchildren, August, Junie, Jude, Reagan, Hadley, and Kellan; brother, Leo Schlensker (LaVerne); sisters-in-law, Diane Schlensker and Wini Crone; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of dear friends. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church. The family will receive friends after 9:30 am Wednesday at the 8th Street ramp entrance. Burial will follow the Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany.
