A Celebration of Life for Margaret Elizabeth Ogden Bowyer Sparks, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana with a service to follow at 6:00 PM. Margaret passed on May 18, 2022 Margaret was born on April 12, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of the late William and Connie (Garbrough) Ogden. Margaret attended Jeffersonville High School, class of 1968; graduated from Indiana University (southeast campus) with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with Distinction and Master's Degree with a math endorsement through grade nine. She worked for thirty-five (35) years in a teaching career for Greater Clark County Schools, specifically at River Valley Middle School as a 7th Grade Math Teacher. She retired in 2007. Upon retirement, she volunteered her time with the New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation for the next ten (10) years. Margaret was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana serving as an Ordained Elder and Sunday School Teacher for many years; was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association; the Boomer Bookies Book Club; a past member of the Board of Directors of Cobbler’s Crossing and Kingsfield Condominiums Homeowners Associations. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her children and granddaughters, her book club members, her lunch buddies, and trips to the beach to collect seashells. Also, among her hobbies and interests were reading, scrapbooking, square dancing, and gardening. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Alma Ogden and Carl and Ruth Garbrough, two brothers, William Ogden, Jr. and John David Ogden; and the father of her two children, Garry L. Bowyer. She is survived by her children: John Bradley Bowyer, Louisville, KY; Beth Bowyer Scott Bowley (Brice), New Albany, Indiana; her granddaughters, Abigail MacKenzie Scott and Lillian Elizabeth Scott; bonus grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lance Bowley; two brothers, Michael Paul Ogden (Vicki) St. Augustine, FL and Thomas Dale Ogden (Debbie), Sellersburg, Indiana, many beloved nieces and nephews, special family friends, Sandra Bowyer and Emalee Bowyer, along with her lifelong best friend, Sandy Winnett Lewis. The family would like to express thankfulness for the excellent care and friendship that Kindred Hospice employees who spent time and energy to keeping Margaret pain free and happy during the time they spent with her. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Margaret’s name to the Endowment Fund of First Presbyterian of Jeffersonville, Kindred Hospice located in the Quadrangle of Jeffersonville, Indiana, or your favorite charity of choice.
