MARY VIRGINIA CORTIE, 87, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of John Albert and Evelyn Coogle Branch, Mary was born June 5, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cortie; and sons, Johnny and Charlie Cortie.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Justice, Betty Cortie Hall, and Linda Williams; sons, Joe Cortie, David Cortie, Sr., and Darrel Cortie, Sr.; brother, Freddy Branch; 26 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. Her Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Friday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.
