Mary Kathleen "Kate" (Meagher) Hancock, age 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, September 26, 2025. Kate was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 20, 1941, to the late Joseph Meagher and Mary Elizabeth (Savage) Meagher. Kate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted Catholic. Kate loved spending time with her family. She was also known for her passion for traveling and her magnificent sense of humor.
Kate is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Ann Nauert and Patsy Burch; and stepmother, Ann Kraemer.
Kate is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Nicholas "Nick" Hancock; her sons, Timothy (Kelly Howell) Hancock, Christopher Hancock, and Michael Hancock; her grandchildren, Logan, Megan, Max, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Maddux and Margaux; sister, Helen Downard; brother, Michael (Marci) Meagher; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
A Memorial Mass in Kate's honor will be held at Kraft Funeral Service on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 2:30 pm.
