Maurice Lee Wood, 86, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Maurice was born September 12, 1936 in Lawrenceville, Illinois Edward and Mavis Wood. He was a retired Cartographer with Defense Mapping Agency in Louisville, Kentucky and was a veteran in the United States Army and Kentucky Air National Guard. He was a geography teacher at IUS for many years. He was a member of Parkwood Church of the Nazarene. Maurice was a honorary Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wood and a son-in-law, Bryan Hatfield.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Jones Wood; two children, Tim (Bell) Wood and Shari Hatfield; grandchildren, Samuel Hatfield,Tallyn Henderson and Olivia Hatfield; and a brother, Edward Wood.
Visitation for Maurice will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral service will be Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150 with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
