Dr. Robert “Bob” E. Harris Jr., 80, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Robert’s impact stretches beyond his family and friends. Through his work in dentistry and naturopathy, he was able to touch countless lives – locally and internationally. He was trusted as a doctor, admired as a teacher, beloved as a friend, and embraced as a father. Bobby, our golden knight, you will be dearly missed.
Robert was born April 15, 1945 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Robert E. Harris Jr. and Catherine Louise Harris. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Endris Harris; 3 daughters, Chanda Harris Steinberg (Jeremy), Cailley Harris, and Amelia Bice (Josiah); granddaughter, Opal Bice; and siblings, Rhonda Harris, Lahna Harris, and Ronald Harris.
Robert was a dentist by profession, starting his own private practice in 1974. However, he is most known in the dental community for his implementation of Ozone Therapy. He not only integrated it into his own dental practice but went on to teach Dental Ozone Therapy seminars across the country and the world. His other academic endeavors include sitting on the Board of Directors for The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, Capital University of Integrative Medicine, and The American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry. He was also the Dean of Academic Affairs for Capital University of Integrative Medicine and chaired the Investigational Review Board. He co-founded and was the president of both The American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry and The Center for Advanced Dental Disciplines.
Robert was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran (Captain at Ft. Benning, GA — Dental Corps Post Faculty), a lover of fishing, and a racehorse enthusiast having owned multiple Thoroughbreds and attending the Kentucky Derby for 60 years. But above all Robert was a proud, gospel-sharing Christian and member of Henryville Community Church. Everyone who crossed his path knew his love for The Lord and that all he had was not his own, but a gift from God.
Visitation for Robert will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 19 and 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, June 20 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, June 20 in the funeral home chapel. A Private Entombment will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
Along with gifts of flowers, donations can be made to Henryville Community Church in Bob's honor.
